Stich der Tarantel

This film by Burnt Friedman, Anders Weberg and Robert William is a beautiful piece which confronts the traditions and suggestions of Irpinia, a southern Italian mountain town. The film, an electronic media collection, interperets the folkloristic heritage of this mountain town.

There is a compilation dvd of all the video and sound artists that were selected to interpret Irpinia.  It features 18 artists and seven short films. The work is absolutely beautiful.

In the Queue: Once

once-movie.jpg

The 2007 Sundance winner, Once, ended up at my doorstep last night and made me wish for more films like it. It is a modern day musical set in Dublin by John Carney. The music was just my style but what really made me love them film was the long shots. It is hard to find movies these days where the frame does not change every few seconds. The actors are actually musicians and play all of the music in the film. I found the slow pace of the movie comforting and brilliant.

If you have any similar movie suggestions please, please let us know!!
