“plug!”- cork and glass by tomas kral

We have an inexplicable fascination with cork-based furniture (as evidenced here and here). At least when it’s done well we do. And artist Tomas Kral’s line of products are some of the best we’ve seen. His designs are modern, clean, thoughtful, and look durable (this last one’s hard to say without actually getting our hands on one). Check out his website for more photos.

His process includes the using a CNC maching to mill the cork and hand blowing the glass pieces. It’s a marriage between a controlled, accurate process and one that is much more organic.

get a grip
Wall graphics are certainly in and I must admit, I love them. I’ve seen a lot of branches, birds, and vines, but rarely do I find ones that make me chuckle! Elly Nelly’s Get a Grip line made my day. Great for a kids room or any place where you can have a little fun.

fan clock

Fan Clock from the portfolio of Stanislav Katz’s Portfolio on the Behance Network. I love it! You can watch your day fill up with red as the hours go by. It’s like reading a pie chart.
solar blind
Vertical Solar Lamp collects solar energy during the day and converts it into energy to be used during the night. The lights seen below are LED’s. The designers chose shapes of lamps to arrange the LED’s but I would think they could be any shape or size, perhaps even customizable to the users preference.

simply fire
Fireplaces by Planika:
These beautiful firepits are incorporated into stylish furniture and create a HOT combo! I love the fireplace smell (you know those old wood burning ones) but sometimes it is nice to do without it. These run off of Fanola gas which burns even cleaner than your cooking gas, so there is no smell or smoke. It’s squeaky clean as it lets off as much CO2 as you letting out a breath of air. Easy on the lungs and on the eyes, nice!
charliedoes paper lamps

Charliedoes, a Brooklyn designer has some beautiful handcrafted paper lamps. The lamps graphics are applied by hand and the cuts are also done by hand. I can alway appreciate the x-acto over the laser cutter! These guys are perfect for an end table or a bookshelf. It looks like you will be able to purchase these on his website beginning in July.
I’ll take the whole collection. In fact, I would love to line them up around the perimeter of my bedroom on the floor (no tables needed).
